Plantains are sent from God. I know that’s a boastful claim but I sometimes imagine God having Sunday dinner with a big bowl of plantains in front of Him. Fried, baked, whatever way they are prepared, plantains are just simply delicious. I like mines the double fried way. This simple recipe is not only easy but cheap. Here’s what you’ll need:
Salt Plantains Plantain Press Vegetable/Canola oil
Heat your oil until hot. Cut your plantains into 2-3 inch wedges. Fry your plantain wedges for 5 minutes, turning occasionally. Remove and drain excess oil on paper towel. Using a plantain press, press your wedges flat into ½ inch discs, fry discs, 3 minutes on each side, or until golden and crisp. Remove from oil and place on paper towel to soak excess oil.
Optional:
Sprinkle salt on tostones while still hot.
Love Always,
Nina
