I went home to St. Croix about two months ago and my dad introduced me this new spot right in our neighborhood called Java Joe's Cafe. I fell in LOVE. The service was amazing and the food was great. I've been there about three times now and the service has always been A+.
My first visit was just a quick stop, so I just had some wings. Fried crispy and served hot! My next visit I decided to go for the gusto and got some rice, stewed beans with BBQ chicken and a side of tostones. The rice and beans were great. The BBQ chicken wasn't brag about delicious but it was good; clearly good enough for me to recommend trying.
Let's talk about their tostones though! I'm not sure who supplies them with their plantain but they are amazing. Crispy and soft in the center, perfectly salted. My dad told me how great they were and made me a believer. I could sit and eat them by itself. It comes with a side of this ketchup/mayo mixture, perfect for dipping. I would recommend maybe adding a little garlic to this mixture, cause I think it would definitely send that sauce to over the edge deliciousness.

My last visit home, I had to go again and this time tried out their bistec and let me tell you I was not disappointed. Service again was great and food delicious.

My dad always gets the grilled salmon and tostones.
I mentioned their service a few times and I'm a big stickler for good service and they get very high marks in this area. Overall their food is great, affordable, and the drinks cold and refreshing. It's a very chill atmosphere located right next door to Whim Museum. They are open for breakfast, serving smoothies, coffee and tea. I definitely plan to stop in and try their smoothies out.
If you're in St. Croix, I highly recommend going and supporting a local business. You can check them out on Facebook @JavaJoesCafeSTX Love Always, Nina
